Moree & District Historical Society (MDHS) and through it, Moree Plains Museum (MPM), respect the privacy of the individuals they deal with and aim to comply with current Australian law. Privacy is extremely important to us.
PERSONAL INFORMATION – of a living individual, is information about an identified individual or an individual who is reasonably identifiable. This may include name, home address, phone number, email address, research interests, communication with MDHS, photographs and other documentary or digital material. Under the provisions of current Australian legislation, privacy laws apply to living persons only.
COLLECTION and DISCLOSURE of INFORMATION – MDHS collects personal information when individuals apply for membership. This information is used for the purpose of administering the affairs of MDHS and communicating with members. It may be disclosed for these purposes but any other disclosure will only be with the individual member’s prior consent or as required by law.
MDHS does not collect or retain personal financial information as a result of payments to the Society.
SECURITY – MDHS will maintain reasonable physical, technical and procedural security safeguards to prevent unauthorised access, use, disclosure, loss or modification. MDHS will never intentionally sell, rent or share our membership data or mailing list.
ACCESS – members may access their personal data to review content and accuracy and have data promptly amended as appropriate.
RESEARCH INFORMATION – MDHS collects a range of personal data for the purposes of conducting family history research. MDHS members will not knowingly pass on any information collected in the course of such research or publishing to a third party without the consent of the original client.
INTERNET SUBMISSIONS – MDHS will not knowingly pass on any personal information collected from internet submissions without the knowledge of the subscriber. However, MDHS cannot prevent the collection of personal data displayed on the website by third parties. Any submission to the MDHS website is made with the understanding that the information contained may be collected by a third party without the permission of the submitter.
